Being engaged is so exciting! You’re in the midst of preparing to spend the rest of your life with your partner. This deserves a celebration! Now I’ve talked to many brides and they all ask “How do I even start?” So I’ve decided to go through a few steps to start planning your wedding day! So here they are,
VISION WHAT YOU WOULD WANT YOUR DREAM WEDDING TO BE LIKE
Seriously, sit back and just think about what your wedding day would look like, dream big. Do you want something small or a big? What time of the year? Are you wanting rustic or more modern industrial. This is all about you and your significant other, what makes you both happy, what describes your love etc
DETERMINE WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU AND BUDGET
Now that you have your vision, it’s time to figure out what are your must haves. What’s most important to you? Are you wanting a live band or DJ? is having a photographer and videographer important to have? is having incredible food at your wedding huge importance? These are all kind of questions to think about. Then you can start budgeting, creating a budget will keep you on track and help you plan you wedding. Decide what you and your partner are wanting to splurge or wanting to hold back a little on. Your must haves will receive the greater portion of your budget so you can bring that dream wedding into reality.
FORM YOUR WEDDING PARTY
Now it starts getting fun, go ahead and start listing your wedding party down. This is optional of course, some couples want just the two of them to stand up with no wedding party, which is totally ok! But if you’re one that wants the whole bridal party, start making that list! You can then do cute gifts on asking your bridesmaids to be or just a handwritten letter. Anything that fits you and just show your appreciation.
GUEST LIST
Its time for you and your fiancé to get together and start creating that guest list. Make sure you start with family and friends closest to you, then so on. This is very important in the wedding planning process because vendors will need to know your wedding guest count. So if you have this done before, you can have the answer to them the first time you meet or talk to vendors and they ask this.
YOUR WEDDING DATE
Best recommendation, pick a few dates. Have your must have date and then backups. Just incase your dream wedding or photographer are booked that date you can have other dates to discuss so you have that one vendor your dying to have. Once you have your date you can start going to venues, vendors, having your wedding dress ready for the day of and so on.
DREAM VENUE
Start reaching out to your venue. This is crucial, dates get booked up so quickly so once you know your date reach out. Tip for this, go to more than one venue, you never know if another venue that wasn’t your dream one, ends up being the one you fall in love with.
VENDOR SEARCHING
Since you’ve already determined what services are more important to you, now you can start reaching out to local and destination vendors. Find out cost, availability and read their reviews. Look for vendors that fit what you’re looking for. Ask friends of past vendors they’ve used, word of mouth is crucial.
WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING
Finally, get wedding dress inspo from Pinterest, social media etc
Same for your partners tux, suit or dress also. You’ll want to go anywhere from 6-9 months in advance. This is so you have time to really look around, try different ones till you find the ONE and sometime dresses or suits need to be altered, this gives enough time for that to be done in time for your special day.
LASTLY, START THINKING HONEYMOON
Where do you want to go for your honeymoon? What do you want to do? Are you wanting super relaxing or super adventurous, you are now married!!! Start it off with a honeymoon, a vacation with just you both and really taking in that you tied the knot 😊
There ya have it babes! Planning your wedding is stressful but I hope this helped you get a head start and remember have fun with it, this is suppose to be a joyous time and milestone in your relationship.
